Trading Up
Trade prosaic avalanches for
daydreams that dance,
steel dolls for a tin man’s
heartbeat,
crimson leaks for jumps and jives,
the limits of doom for clocks that
teach,
spun numbness for an expressway day.
Trade a rocket’s plume for the spell
of a golden ticket,
spooky accolades for a dearth of
regimes,
the vanity of nosegays for a
trustworthy blonde,
lunchtime tipping awry for welcome
order,
a lost head case for the renewal of
rivers’ humbleness,
a showdown of dominoes for motions
hung.
The bronze intercom
screams out shattered fortunes.
Auroras fall into laden fields.
New images of entrancing symmetry
within parquet tiles
can right that wrong.
Trade the jungles for a Buddha
smile.
