Planet Suburbia
The
sounds of suburbia:
The
relentless, motorised cleaning machine,
eating
away hours of power,
pausing
only momentarily.
The
collective pack of dogs,
savaging
the night silence
with
their unwelcome attention.
The
car, honking in greeting,
in
alarm, at any moment,
a
once-shiny new toy.
The
landscape of suburbia:
Rooms,
refitted for purpose,
a
garage turned workshop,
with
restless toddler at the door,
banging
– what could be more important?
Unaware
every moment is planned for,
in
every day,
until
she finds her own plan,
in
her own corner of the planet,
in
her own season.
