So Far Away
Oh, my friend,
now, so far away.
Hopes dissolved in a field of
poppies.
Fears built upon an edifice,
whose height could not exceed
gravity’s pull.
Sorrows drowned in basins measured
as drams or oceans.
I do not know which of these took
you.
I only know there is now such a
distance between us,
and only my own end of days can
narrow it.
