When Mercy Feels Like Murder

 

I started as an owner

But now I’m his friend

 

My dog is dying

Damn, damn this sounds

Like a bad country song.

 

I am wishing

For his peaceful end

In our home

 

Instead of sleeping

forever

In a cold vet office

 

Paying the bill

For a mercy kill.
