The Fear of Religion
It amazes me
Sometimes
We burn the living
To honor the bygones,
To revere by fear
Is how we make God
In our image
If superstition is traded
In the name of faith
If we are willing to kill
In the for beliefs
Then O God, make me
A faithless, an unbeliever
So that I remain human,
So that I remain humane
If piety leads to vengeful
ignorance
An eternity in hell
may be better
Than servitude of heaven

the question remains is it the religion that is flawed or the followers who subvert its purpose
