Marlena,
seat 3
She’s
knitting a shawl for her
grandchild.
Most times, I’m silent
on the
ride home from midtown,
but
the woman, seat 3, needs a kind
ear to
listen.
She
says he’s preemie, with a
promise
of obstacles, facing his
daily
routines.
She’s clacking
her needles, knit one
and
pearl two. Her granddaughter will
wrap
him up warmly in it, when she
brings
him back home from the hospital.
I’m
glad that I finally exchanged a few
words
with her. Her name is Marlena.
