Calling the Dance
Should we listen
to the reassuring tones
of the Minister
though we do not hear
the voiceless advisor
at his ear, or see
the hospital manager
apportioning beds,
always conscious
of budget losses,
budget gains?
Do we lie awake
fearful in the dark,
and cower behind doors
closed tight to family,
neighbours and friends?
Who should be calling
the steps of this dance?
