More Than Just Some Hoped-For Luck

More Than Just Some Hoped-For Luck

I am saddened by the violence

and for those who find it thrilling.

What will it take to heal the world,

that we should let all run amuck?

How shall the best of us be preserved?

We’ll need more than just some hoped-for luck.

You have earned a stain on your name,

to be added to the ranks of those

who have so little regard for human life.

What will it take to heal the world,

that we should let all run amuck?

How shall the best of us be preserved?

We’ll need more than just some hoped-for luck.

I have watched self-professed lovers of fellow man

step over the homeless on the street,

as if a wad of gum were lying there.

What will it take to heal the world,

that we should let all run amuck?

How shall the best of us be preserved?

We’ll need more than just some hoped-for luck.
