The Riot Police
Risking life day
after day,
Duty calls when
things go wrong,
Licensed to beat
but not to kill
Taking a hit and
staying strong.
Order & reason
may not hold,
When talks fail
and comes to knives.
We are the wall of
unflinching stand
On whom cling the
innocent lives.
When fear grips
the raging mobs
When law runs out
of viable course,
When saner voices
are miles afar
We make peace by
way of force.
Bruised, stabbed,
burned and killed
Standing ground,
last man & breath.
Brothers, sisters
we march in blue,
Keepers of peace,
by life or death.
We bring order in
chaos & fray,
No praises sung or
glories hold.
Thanked or not, we
do our job,
Whether or not our
tales be told.
