when apologies fall into place
forgiveness
feels like a risk,
brushing its clipped wings
against my face, in the dark,
standing
on the ledge of time,
suspended in breaths,
seizing the brevity of moments
that gather
in the remains
of what had once
been left for dead,
how new
the warmth
of our bodies,
interlaced, in silence,
as lips
search for safer ground
on which to share
our imperfect ways,
countless are
the apologetic kisses,
caught in the flight
of love’s unexpected grace.
