Storm-Tossed
Anchored in rancor,
the silence of elected winds
is deafening, a reckoning
wherein we seek to remember
how best to forget.
Drifting into abased oblivion
as false waves crash daily
onto the shore of our certainty,
eroding truth & reputation
into a whirling eddy
of fantastic proportion.
We spin along in partisan circles,
getting nowhere, losing track.
Are we alone in the middle of this
ocean?
Does anyone hear our impassioned
pleas?
These uncharted waters each day
get deeper & more turbulent.
Farewell smooth sailing,
the real question is voiced:
can anyone save our ship?
