hope, true & false
the hype is
hope is light,
that it soars
& those possessed
by its spirit
shall be lifted
& freed
from this quagmire.
we miss
the fine print
that reads,
“hope is also
a creature
that claws
& tears.”
they who perished
with eyes
wide open…
hope didn’t even
lift a finger
to shut their
stiffened-&-stuck
eyelids.
that claws
& tears.”
they who perished
with eyes
wide open…
hope didn’t even
lift a finger
to shut their
stiffened-&-stuck
eyelids.
