Eavesdropping Through
an Office Window
For in depth
enlightenment I dare not dream
As my imagination
does not venture past these office walls
The childlike wonder
choked underfoot of my oppressors
One unblemished
shined shoe weighing heavily on my windpipe.
The other pushing
down on my chest
My lungs devoid of
air, I attempt to speak using a word that only exists when I sleep.
Walls turn into
chains
My throne into an
anchor
The air thick enough
to drown
And I am drowning,
struggling and
sinking deeper
Further away
From freedom
